This is a question we’re often asked as tutors, however the answer entirely depends on your child.
This does not mean to say that you cannot determine how much preparation they require. You need to gain a realistic insight into where their 11+ education is currently at (whether they are in Year 4 or Year 5).
You can profile your child by enrolling them onto an exam or online course. This will give you an idea of where their strengths and weaknesses are from an independent source.
Julia Massey, lea
d tutor at KSOL, says:
“Exams are a good way to gain invaluable information, not only about your child’s current abilities but how advanced their exam technique and time management skills are.
“Online courses like KSOL’s Graduate and Early Starter programme also profile every child’s specific areas of strength and weakness so that their 11+ preparation can be focused; whether that means securing their foundation knowledge or building skills where they really need it.“
